Pregnant women in Chitrakoot will soon have access to advanced maternity and surgical facilities at the local District Hospital. Comprehensive renovation work is currently underway to equip the hospital's labor room and operation theater (OT) with modern infrastructure. Once completed, this upgrade will enable safe delivery and cesarean operations within the district, significantly reducing the need for patients to travel to other districts or expensive private medical centers for urgent care.
Allocation of Rs 88.01 Lakh from District Mineral Fund
A dedicated grant of Rs 88.01 lakh has been sanctioned from the District Mineral Fund (DMF) to overhaul the medical infrastructure at the Chitrakoot District Hospital. The funds are being utilized to construct a state-of-the-art modular OT designed to meet contemporary healthcare standards. Health department officials confirmed that the modernization involves strict infection-control measures and enhanced structural amenities.
Key upgrades inside the operation theater include the installation of specialized wall paneling, antibacterial painting, and seamless vinyl flooring. Furthermore, the facility is being upgraded with false ceilings, systematic surgical storage units, an advanced electrical distribution board, and a Medical Gas Pipeline System (MGPS). To assist surgeons during complex procedures, the OT will be fully air-conditioned and fitted with dual-dome LED OT lighting systems.
Project Completion Targeted Within Two Months
Chief Medical Officer Dr. Mahendra Kumar Tripathi stated that the enhancement project is progressing rapidly under the directions of the District Magistrate. He mentioned that the construction and installation work is anticipated to conclude within the next two months. Following its completion, local expectant mothers will no longer need to seek external emergency care for surgical deliveries.
C-Section Services to Expand to Khoh Hospital
The health administration is also extending surgical care to secondary healthcare centers across the region. According to Dr. Tripathi, efforts are underway to introduce C-section facilities at Khoh Hospital starting next month, following directives from the District Magistrate. This expansion aims to decentralize critical maternity services, ensuring that rural residents receive high-quality medical treatment closer to their homes.
