A shocking incident has come to light in Tyaulu village, located within the Faste panchayat of the Nadaun region in Himachal Pradesh's Hamirpur district. Initial police investigations into the murder of a migrant mason have revealed startling details. According to the preliminary findings, the mason was allegedly beaten to death with a shovel following a dispute over a meager financial transaction of just three thousand rupees. The involvement of two assistant laborers who worked alongside him has come to the forefront in this tragic case.
Dispute erupted after consuming alcohol
According to the preliminary investigation, all three individuals had sat together on Tuesday night to consume alcohol. During this gathering, a heated argument broke out between them over a money transaction. As the altercation escalated, both assistant laborers allegedly attacked Digvijay with a shovel, resulting in his death. Following the assault, the suspects fled from the scene. Police have recovered the blood-stained shovel used in the crime and taken it into custody, while a forensic team has gathered crucial evidence from the spot.
How the crime was discovered
The murder is believed to have taken place on Tuesday night, whereas the police received information about it on Wednesday evening. Digvijay's blood-soaked body was lying in the veranda of an unpaved, isolated house situated at the edge of the village. On Wednesday evening, some locals were on their way to watch the Ramleela. While passing along a grass-covered path, their attention was drawn to the house. Seeing the lights turned on inside, they approached to call out, but panicked upon seeing the body in the veranda. They immediately informed the local authorities.
Police and forensic investigation
Upon receiving the alert, DSP Rashmi Sharma and Station House Officer Nazar Singh rushed to the spot with a police team. The police inspected the crime scene and gathered evidence. On Thursday morning, a forensic team also examined the location. The victim's post-mortem has been conducted, and his relatives have been duly informed, though reports indicate the family members have not yet reached Hamirpur.
Arrest and ongoing search operations
The police have arrested Surjit, a local resident and son of Ramesh, in connection with the case and are currently processing his production in court. Meanwhile, police teams are actively searching for the second absconding suspect, Santosh, a resident of Madhubani in Bihar. Investigations revealed that the deceased worked as a tile-laying craftsman, and both accused individuals were his assistant laborers. Hamirpur Superintendent of Police Balbir Singh Thakur stated that one accused has been successfully apprehended while the search for the other continues, and a thorough investigation into the matter is underway.
