On the occasion of Teacher's Day, dedicated educator Parashuram Tiwari from Palamu was conferred with the State Teacher Contribution Award 2026 at a state-level ceremony held inside the JEPC auditorium in Ranchi. Among the 190 teachers selected from across the state for their exemplary service, 12 belonged to Palamu district, with Tiwari receiving special recognition. He was formally awarded for his pioneer work in live streaming techniques, leadership dialogue strategies, and educational research presentation. Currently serving as the in-charge headmaster at Government Middle School Rajwadih in Palamu Sadar block, this state accolade highlights his decades of commitment and innovative approach toward student learning.
Generational Family Legacy at Rajkiyakrit Middle School Rajwadih
Parashuram Tiwari's bond with Government Middle School Rajwadih is not merely professional but spans multiple generations. The very institution he currently leads as headmaster is where his late grandfather, Rajkumar Tiwari, took the school's historical first student admission. His grandfather went on to become a revered teacher himself, fondly remembered by locals as 'Kumari Guruji'. Furthermore, Tiwari's father was also an educator. By taking charge of this institution, Parashuram Tiwari continues to carry forward a deeply rooted family legacy of public service in education.
Overcoming Financial Hardship Through ₹50 Tuitions to Pass BPSC
Reflecting on his journey, Tiwari shared that becoming a teacher was his childhood dream, often role-playing as an educator during childhood games. However, achieving that goal presented severe economic obstacles. During his higher education, he faced financial constraints that threatened his studies. To pay for his examination forms and academic supplies, he took up teaching private tuitions to young children. Charging a modest fee of just ₹50 per student, he taught nearly 32 students daily from morning until evening. By carefully pooling those earnings, he completed his education and successfully cleared the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) examination in 1996 to enter the state teaching cadre.
School Transformation, Attendance and Technology Since 2015
Since assuming responsibility as the in-charge headmaster of Government Middle School Rajwadih in 2015, Tiwari implemented widespread infrastructural and pedagogical improvements. The school currently educates around 140 male and female students, maintaining an impressive regular daily attendance rate of 80% to 90%. When students miss school, Tiwari personally visits their homes to encourage parents and motivate children to return to the classroom. Under his leadership, the school was upgraded with smart classrooms, an ICT computer lab, a library, handwash stations, regular physical training, yoga sessions, parent-teacher meetings, and vibrant cultural programs.
The 'Padbe Karab' Initiative During the COVID-19 Pandemic
When the COVID-19 pandemic forced nationwide school closures and jeopardized children's education, Tiwari launched an innovative grassroots campaign called 'Padbe Karab' (We Will Study). He visited door-to-door across the village to keep students academically engaged. Initially, he distributed masks and hand sanitizers to ensure safety, followed by organizing small neighborhood study cohorts. This initiative earned praise across district and state administrative levels, resulting in special commendations during the pandemic period.
Teaching Philosophy, Literary Work and Previous Accolades
Tiwari maintains a firm teaching philosophy centered on student happiness, asserting that a teacher's true success is reflected in the smiles and satisfaction of children at the end of every class. Beyond classroom instruction, he is an active literary writer. He authored a biography titled 'Sabki Aas Subhash', detailing the life of his revered mentor Subhash Chandra Mishra after gathering extensive primary accounts. He has also contributed to several shared literary volumes. Over his career, Tiwari was repeatedly felicitated during main district celebrations on 15 August and 26 January, and his name was previously recommended for the prestigious President's Award.
