Fatalities from Flash Floods and Landslips
The destructive impact of Sunday evening's deluge was felt most acutely in the hilly terrains and river basins of the state. Separate incidents of landslides in the rugged terrains of Idukki and Kottayam claimed the lives of four individuals. Further north in Malappuram district, a sudden surge in the Kottapuzha river near Nilambur unleashed severe flash flooding that washed away six people. While the core impact remains concentrated in these regions, lighter spells of rain have also been forecast for parts of Kollam, Palakkad, and Kannur.
