Nishant Joshi, a 50-year-old man from Indore, suddenly went missing on Monday night, and after three days of relentless searching his body was recovered from the Narmada river near Khargone district. Nishant worked as an area sales manager, and his empty car was found abandoned on the Narmada bridge at Mandleshwar. From that same car police recovered a handwritten note and documents related to mental health treatment, details that shaped the entire direction of the case. Police have registered a marg and begun their investigation, and suicide is being suspected at this early stage, though every angle is being examined.
The note in the car that shook everyone
When police found Nishant's abandoned car on the Mandleshwar Narmada bridge, a search of the vehicle turned up a handwritten note. In it, Nishant appealed to his cousin Dr. Vivek Joshi and his wife to take care of his daughter. Documents relating to treatment by a psychiatric specialist were also recovered from the car. Given these circumstances, police suspected that Nishant may have jumped into the Narmada river, and on that basis a search operation was launched with the help of the SDRF.
Search in the river from Wednesday morning
A team from the Mandleshwar police station had been carrying out a search operation in the Narmada river since Wednesday morning. During this effort came information about a body spotted in the river in the Gandhi Nagar area, after which police and an SDRF team rushed to the spot. When the body was pulled out, it was identified as that of Nishant Joshi, 50, a resident of Rajendra Nagar in Indore. Family members who reached the scene confirmed his identity.
Who was Nishant Joshi
Nishant was working as an area sales manager at Heavynol Petro Chemicals company in Indore. He had been missing since Monday night. His wife is posted as SP Narcotics in Mandsaur.
Body handed to family after post-mortem
After a continuous search, Nishant's body was found in the Narmada river today. TI Pankaj Tiwari said police had the post-mortem conducted and then handed the body over to the family. The early investigation points to suspected suicide, but police are probing every aspect of the case.
