According to police, the incident took place at night when an unidentified man entered the Sai temple located in the Masla Pen area of Washim. He broke the lock on the temple's main door and made his way straight to the donation box where cash offered by devotees is collected, walking away with the entire amount inside it. The theft only came to light the next morning when the temple priest arrived for the daily rituals and found the lock broken and the box emptied out. The matter was reported to the local police station soon after, and a team reached the spot for inspection.
