Addressing a gathering in Mumbai, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat shared his perspective on the recent student demonstrations at Jantar Mantar. He emphasized that framing negative opinions about the younger generation is fundamentally flawed. According to him, if the government had established direct communication with the youth earlier, the protests would not have intensified to such a scale.
Valuing Gen Z and Constructive Dialogue
During an interactive session with Gen Z and Gen Alpha participants, Mohan Bhagwat highlighted that the current young generation is exceptionally honest. He advised older generations to move away from simply issuing directives, urging them instead to engage with youth using reason and empathy. He underlined that young people are not distant outsiders, but an integral part of society and its future.
Addressing the Communication Gap in Democracy
The RSS chief expressed concern regarding the growing trust deficit between elders and the youth, which hinders meaningful discourse. He noted that in a democratic framework, when channels of dialogue break down, young individuals feel compelled to take to the streets in protest. He urged authorities to acknowledge the legitimate concerns of the new generation and maintain a continuous, open dialogue with them.
