The Procession Collapse in South Mumbai
The tragedy unfolded late Saturday night in the Bhuleshwar area of South Mumbai as devotees gathered for an arrival procession welcoming the deity. The accident occurred on August 22 at approximately 9:51 pm near Balaram Merchant Road, close to Kabutarkhana and Jay Ambe Chowk. The deity was being transported from Byculla to the pandal in Bhuleshwar and collapsed merely fifty to sixty meters away from its destination.
Initial Police Findings and Emergency Response
Upon receiving alerts about the mishap, teams from the municipal fire department, city police, traffic branch, ambulance services, and ward personnel rushed to the location to coordinate rescue efforts.
