On the day of the mishap, things took a fatal turn when the two teens went deep into the water. Police investigators strongly suspect that consumption of alcohol preceded their decision to enter the deep waters, which ultimately led to the fatal drowning. The police are currently recording statements from the two surviving friends who accompanied the victims. The group of youths had travelled to the scenic reservoir for weekend sightseeing. During their visit, they decided to go boating. Despite a massive gathering of locals and even the local member of the legislative assembly arriving at the spot to coordinate rescue efforts, the youths could not be saved in time. Their bodies were later retrieved from the reservoir, leaving their families in absolute shock and mourning.
