A brand new facility dedicated to athletic excellence has officially opened in Shillong, marking a major milestone for the region. Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma inaugurated the state's very first High-Performance Sports Science Centre on Friday, designed to elevate athletic standards through advanced scientific training, analytics, and rehabilitation programmes.
Collaboration With Abhinav Futuristics
The newly established hub is the result of a strategic partnership with Abhinav Futuristics, an organisation founded by Olympic gold medallist Abhinav Bindra. By bringing sports science, specialised coaching, and recovery facilities under a single roof, the centre aims to bridge the gap between grassroots talent and elite-level sports performance in the region.

Sharing his excitement about the launch, the Chief Minister wrote on X that the vision extends far beyond winning accolades. He stated that the ultimate goal is to make sports an integral way of life while transforming Meghalaya into a premier sporting destination. The administration believes that investing heavily in sports infrastructure today is the foundational step required to produce tomorrow's champions who can successfully compete on national and international stages.
