Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk is set to be discharged from Medanta Hospital in Gurugram following a medical recovery after his 26-day hunger strike regarding the NEET examination paper leak case. Upon leaving the healthcare facility, he is expected to head straight to New Delhi to pay tribute at Rajghat, the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi.
Hospitalization and Recovery Details
Wangchuk was initially admitted to Safdarjung Hospital by police officers when his physical condition deteriorated severely during his prolonged fast at Jantar Mantar. Following directives from the court, he was later transferred to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram for specialized medical care. After receiving intensive monitoring, medical staff shifted him out of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) into a general ward as his health stabilized. Under the supervision of Dr. Sushila Kataria, his discharge is scheduled for approximately 11:30 AM.
Post-Discharge Movement and Delhi Plans
Rather than returning directly to his home immediately after leaving the hospital, Wangchuk plans to travel into the national capital. His primary destination in Delhi will be Rajghat, where he will pay homage at the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi. Questions remain regarding whether he will also pay a visit to Jantar Mantar or interact directly with representatives of the Cockroach Janta Party. While his exact itinerary after visiting Rajghat is not fully confirmed, members associated with the group may meet him before he departs for his residence.

The fast ended after formal intervention by the Central government. Union Ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh met with the activist, offering assurances that the government would take appropriate action regarding the concerns raised.
