Union Home Minister Amit Shah shared an emotional post on the social media platform X, saying he felt overwhelmed after visiting an exhibition organised in Kolkata to mark the birth anniversary of Dr Syama Prasad Mukherjee. He wrote that Dr Mukherjee had dedicated every moment of his life and every part of his being to the nation.

In his post, Amit Shah said the Kolkata event featured an exhibition built around Dr Mukherjee's life and work. Viewing the exhibition, he said, filled him with deep emotion. He paid tribute to Dr Mukherjee's contribution to nation building in his message.
125th anniversary observed across the country
Dr Syama Prasad Mukherjee's 125th birth anniversary was observed nationwide on July 6. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid tribute to him and wrote an editorial article to mark the occasion. West Bengal will now include Dr Mukherjee's contribution in school textbooks, with PM Modi describing him as one of the nation's great nation builders. BJP leader Shubhendu Adhikari also said his contribution should be included in textbooks.
In Koderma, Jharkhand, the anniversary was marked with an event where MP Aditya Sahu said that not everything is fine within the government. In Darbhanga, Bihar, MP Dr Gopal Ji Thakur said Dr Mukherjee's ideals remain relevant for the nation even today. In Thiyog in Himachal Pradesh's Rampur Bushahar area, BJP workers also remembered him. In Chhattisgarh, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai paid homage to Dr Mukherjee, calling his life a symbol of national service and sacrifice. Several schools and institutions, including Kasturba Gandhi College, held discussion sessions, essay writing and painting competitions in his memory.

The event attended by Amit Shah took place in Kolkata, a city globally known for its grand Durga Puja celebrations. Durga Puja is an annual Hindu festival dedicated to the worship of goddess Durga, celebrated on a grand scale.
