Renowned actor Prakash Raj recently sparked discussion after claiming that his name was deleted from the voter list in Bengaluru during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision exercise in Karnataka. In a video released on 11 August 2026, the actor alleged that despite being a long-time resident of Bengaluru, his name had been omitted alongside nearly 65 lakh other voters. Addressing these assertions, Jagdish G, the Additional District Election Officer of Bengaluru, issued an official press note clarifying the exact circumstances surrounding the voter records. According to election authorities, a thorough verification revealed that the actor's claims were factually baseless and that standard statutory protocols had been followed.
Physical Verification Findings at Registered Address
Official records from the Election Commission indicate that up until the data freeze date of 16 June 2026, Prakash Raj remained actively registered as a voter in the 163-Shantinagar Assembly constituency under Part Number 1 at Serial Number 970. However, during the door-to-door physical verification drive conducted as part of the revision process, the designated Booth Level Officer visited his recorded address at House Number 266, Garden Apartments. Inquiries conducted with neighbours, the building manager, and the flat owner established that the actor had not resided at that residence for the past four years, and that tenants were currently occupying the property.
Procedural Update to Voter Status
Following the physical check, a formal panchnama was drawn up in accordance with electoral guidelines, and the actor's voter status was recorded as shifted. The Election Commission released video documentation recorded by the field officer outside the premises to verify the on-site inspection. Furthermore, on 11 August 2026 at 5:30 PM, the property manager reaffirmed over a telephone call that the actor no longer lived at the premise. The election body emphasized that all steps taken were strictly aligned with the statutory provisions and legal frameworks established by the Election Commission of India for maintaining electoral rolls.
Advising Form-6 Submission for Address Update
Following the verification of these facts, election officials established direct telephonic contact with Prakash Raj. During the conversation, the actor acknowledged that he no longer resides at the registered address mentioned in the older electoral roll. He clarified, however, that his current residence still falls within the boundaries of the Shantinagar Assembly constituency. Officials subsequently guided him to submit Form-6 through his local Booth Level Officer to register his current address and complete the updating process, reiterating that voter list revisions aim strictly at maintaining accurate public records.
