All eyes in Patna's political circles are on the government bungalow at 10 Circular Road, where Bihar's former Chief Minister Rabri Devi lives. The Building Construction Department has handed her a fresh notice, making it clear that she must vacate the residence within the next week. The notice warns that if the bungalow is not vacated in the given time, further action will be taken as per the rules.
This is not the first such notice. Earlier too, the government had asked her to vacate 10 Circular Road, and that deadline expired on June 15. Rabri Devi had sought a little more time, but the department has now set a new deadline and stepped up the pressure.
Belongings being moved out fast
The signs of an exit are now out in the open. Over the past few days, the pace of removing items from 10 Circular Road has picked up sharply. On Thursday, furniture, an AC and other household goods were loaded onto a pickup vehicle and sent to the 1 Polo Road residence of Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav.
After the notice, the family has been gradually shifting its belongings to different places. Earlier, several items had already been sent to the cattle shed on Gola Road and the private residence in Kautilya Nagar. Whatever is left is now being taken to 1 Polo Road. With most of the goods already removed, it is widely believed that Rabri Devi could vacate the bungalow in the coming days.
Request for more time and extra rooms
Rabri Devi, however, has asked for a little more time to vacate the residence, along with a request to build some additional rooms at the new place. Despite this, the steady shifting shows that the process of leaving the bungalow has not stopped. For now, the residence has not been completely vacated. Meanwhile, Rabri Devi has written a letter to the state government explaining her position and the reasons behind the delay in changing residences.
Lalu Yadav's health a key reason
In her letter, Rabri Devi has written that, given the health of RJD supremo and former Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, doctors have advised special precautions. According to the doctors, Lalu Yadav remains at risk of infection, which is why he has been advised to stay apart from other family members. For this reason, a separate special room has been arranged for him at the 10 Circular Road residence.
Rabri Devi has requested the government to make a similar arrangement at 39 Harding Road, the new residence allotted to her. She says that keeping Lalu Yadav's health needs in mind, a separate room and the necessary facilities should be provided at the new bungalow as well. Once this arrangement is complete at the new place, she will move to the 39 Harding Road residence with her entire family.
