Devotees traveling to the revered desert shrine of Baba Ramdevji can look forward to significantly improved amenities and modern transit infrastructure at their destination. Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, the Jodhpur Division of North Western Railway is undertaking a comprehensive redevelopment of Ramdevra railway station. The infrastructure upgrade carries a sanctioned project budget of 18.84 crore rupees, and approximately 40 percent of the planned construction has already been completed on ground. The broad redevelopment effort focuses on modernizing waiting lounges, streamlining movement across platforms, and bolstering passenger security throughout the transit premises.
12-Meter Wide Foot Overbridge and Platform Enhancements
Sharing details on the operational blueprint, Divisional Railway Manager Anurag Tripathi explained that passenger comfort remains the primary driver behind the upgrade designs. A massive 12-meter wide foot overbridge is currently being erected to facilitate smooth cross-platform movement and prevent bottlenecks during peak hours. In addition to the overbridge, the work plan includes setting up durable platform backwalls, executing fresh platform surfacing, and building expansive waiting halls equipped with contemporary seating. Shelters across passenger platforms are being widened, and arrangements for clean, accessible drinking water are being upgraded. Ground teams are also building dedicated RPF barracks, an RPF outpost, an organized circulating zone, a boundary wall, and clearly defined entry and exit gateways.
Four Dedicated Fair Special Trains to Manage Peak Influx
Given the massive turnout of pilgrims visiting the annual Ramdevra fair from across multiple regions, railway authorities have deployed tailored transit solutions to ease travel hurdles. Jodhpur Division is operating four distinct railway services designated as Ramdevra Fair Special trains. These additional passenger services have been introduced specifically to absorb the surging passenger traffic generated by the festive season, preventing severe overcrowding on scheduled long-distance lines and delivering timely connections to visitors arriving in the pilgrimage town.
Integrated Security Deployment and Crowd Management
To keep the busy transit hub secure and orderly, personnel from the Railway Protection Force have been positioned across the station premises in coordination with volunteers from the Scouts and Guides. These volunteer teams and security personnel actively guide incoming passengers, monitor essential station facilities, and regulate passenger flow to ensure continuous safety. Once the pending construction reaches full completion, Ramdevra railway station will offer a completely modernized gateway, delivering comfortable waiting facilities, smooth ingress and egress, and an organized, safe environment for thousands of devotees arriving every day.
