Panic broke out at a fuel station on Gangapur Road in Lalsot, located in Rajasthan's Dausa district, after a three-wheeler tempo abruptly caught fire during CNG refueling. The sudden blaze on the station forecourt triggered immediate chaos among motorists and facility staff, raising severe concerns of an explosion amid active fuel dispensers.
Driver's Alert Action Prevents Catastrophe
Recognizing the extreme hazard to the fuel station, the vehicle driver acted with remarkable composure. He swiftly pushed the burning tempo out of the filling station premises onto the adjacent roadway. Merely a few meters away from the pumps, the vehicle became completely engulfed in intense flames, ensuring the underground fuel reservoirs and dispensing units remained unharmed.
Emergency Response and Road Closure
Upon receiving the alert, personnel from the Lalsot police station and local fire services rushed to the location. Police officers immediately cordoned off the hazardous zone, pushing onlookers back to a safe perimeter. As a precautionary safety measure, vehicular traffic along Gangapur Road was briefly halted to prevent passing motorists from getting trapped by the flames.
Police Officer Injured in Dousing Operation
During direct firefighting interventions, Head Constable Shailendra from Lalsot police station sustained burn injuries while attempting to suppress the blaze. Meanwhile, firefighter Gaurav Pareek demonstrated quick thinking by deploying the petrol pump's onboard fire extinguisher cylinders against the flames. Shortly after, a dedicated fire tender arrived at the scene. Following approximately 30 minutes of continuous effort, emergency teams completely brought the fire under control, bringing relief to the surrounding area.
