A tragic accident occurred on Saturday afternoon in Semlopur Kheda village, located within the Rathanjana police station area of Pratapgarh district in Rajasthan. A nine-year-old girl named Sharda Meena lost her life after slipping and falling into deep water while grazing goats near a village pond. The young girl, who was studying in the third grade, had left her house in the afternoon before the devastating event unfolded, leaving her family and the local community in deep grief.
Accident Near Chanda Talai Pond
According to available details, Sharda, the eldest daughter of daily wage laborer Kishor Meena, had gone out around 3:00 PM to graze goats near her residence in Semlopur Kheda village. While tending to the livestock near the bank of Chanda Talai pond, her foot unexpectedly slipped on the edge. Losing her balance completely, she tumbled into the deep section of the pond water and began to drown as she was unable to swim.
Emergency Rush to District Hospital
The incident was witnessed by a small child who happened to be present near the water body at that moment. The child immediately ran to Sharda's house and alerted her family members about the emergency. Distressed relatives and neighbors rushed to the scene without delay, pulled the young girl out of the pond, and hurried her to the district hospital in Pratapgarh using a private vehicle. However, upon arrival, medical officers examined the child and declared her brought dead.
Postmortem and Family Background
The tragedy has plunged the victim's family into immense mourning. Sharda was the eldest among four siblings, which includes three daughters and one son. Her father, Kishor Meena, stays away in Jaipur working as a manual laborer to earn a livelihood for the family. Following the incident, the girl's body was placed in the mortuary of the district hospital. The official postmortem examination is scheduled for Sunday morning, after which the body will be formally handed over to the family members for the final rites.
