A case of caste tension in Hapur district of western Uttar Pradesh has claimed another life. Deepak, a young man injured in a shooting, succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment in hospital, after which angry residents of Badnoli village blocked a road in protest. BSP chief Mayawati has also reacted to the incident.

Firing Two Days Ago Left Three People Injured

The shooting took place two days ago in Badnoli village, under the Kotwali Hapur Nagar police station area, between parties linked to two families. Three people were injured in the clash. Police immediately began legal action and ensured the three injured men received proper medical treatment at the hospital. Despite this, one of them, Deepak, could not be saved and died today.

News of Deepak's death sparked fresh tension in Badnoli village. Angry residents created an uproar at the spot and staged a protest by blocking the road. Police officials pacified the bike-riding youths involved. Given the situation, a heavy police force was deployed at the spot and ASP Vineet Bhatnagar personally took charge. Police officers from Bulandshahr and Meerut also reached the site. Police have stopped outsiders arriving in support of the deceased from entering the village.

ASP Vineet Bhatnagar said the firing incident that occurred two days ago in Badrauli village under Kotwali Hapur Nagar police station involved parties linked to two families. He said police had immediately taken legal action and arranged better medical treatment for all three injured, but despite every effort, Deepak could not be saved. He said, 'Despite every effort, I was there the whole day yesterday.' He added that six accused involved in the incident have already been arrested and the illegal weapon used in the incident has been recovered. The arrest of the remaining accused could happen at any moment. According to him, the case has been registered under very strict sections and police are taking the strictest possible action.

Mayawati Appeals To Government To Help Victim's Family

Reacting to the incident on X, BSP chief Mayawati said the death of a person from the Dalit community, who was injured in a mutual rivalry and clash between two communities in the Hapur Nagar police station area of Hapur district, was extremely sad. Mayawati said the government should ensure legal punishment for the accused while also helping the victim's family. She further wrote that mutual rivalries turning into bloodshed is highly condemnable and worrying, and that such incidents must be prevented through government intervention so that disputes never escalate into conflict.
