Chhotelal Verma, the sitting Bharatiya Janata Party legislator representing the Fatehabad assembly constituency in Agra district, passed away while undergoing medical treatment at a hospital in Noida. The lawmaker had been dealing with prolonged health issues, and his medical condition deteriorated sharply following a fever, prompting his urgent transfer to the medical facility. He had secured his place in the state legislative assembly after emerging victorious on a BJP ticket during the 2022 elections.

According to relatives and local representatives, Verma had been unwell for several days prior to his demise. His physical distress escalated significantly after suffering from a fever over a span of two days, which led to sudden acute complications. He was promptly admitted to an advanced hospital in Noida for specialised care, where he eventually breathed his last despite medical efforts to stabilise his condition.
