A chilling crime has come to light in the Fatehpur district of Uttar Pradesh, where a man brutally murdered his live in partner and went to extreme lengths to cover up the gruesome act. The accused allegedly strangled the young woman and, in a bid to make the murder look like a tragic train accident, conspired with his own sons to dispose of the evidence. They stuffed the victim's lifeless body into a sack and threw it onto a railway track. Initially, local authorities believed the incident was an accident and circulated photographs and videos of the unidentified body to establish her identity. The truth remained buried for nearly a month until the victim's father and brother came across the visuals and identified her. Following their formal complaint, police launched a fresh investigation that unraveled the horrifying conspiracy. Law enforcement officials have now arrested three individuals, including the primary accused, and sent them to prison.
Village Panchayat And A Move To The City
The origins of this tragic case trace back to a complex familial relationship. According to the police, the 45-year-old accused, identified as Ganga Sagar, had lured his 20-year-old relative, who was his niece, into a romantic relationship. The victim, Pushpa Devi, hailed from Dharupur Aurai village under the jurisdiction of the Thariyanw police station. The illicit relationship had sparked controversy in the village, leading to a local panchayat meeting. Following the panchayat's intervention, Ganga Sagar brought Pushpa to the city. The couple subsequently began living together in a rented accommodation located near the Bhikharipur Degree College in the Radha Nagar area. The victim's father, Mahavir Lodhi, stated that Ganga Sagar had allegedly coaxed and taken his daughter away on April 11, 2025. Mahavir Lodhi claimed that he had submitted a formal complaint at the Thariyanw police station at the time, but no effective action was taken by the authorities to recover his daughter.
Suspicion Grew After Phone Calls Stopped
Despite leaving her home, Pushpa maintained regular contact with her family, specifically speaking to her elder sister, Shiva Devi, over the phone. However, this communication abruptly ceased. The last recorded conversation between the two sisters took place on June 16, 2026. After that day, Pushpa's phone remained unreachable, and her whereabouts became a mystery. The family's anxiety turned into deep suspicion on July 19, when they received information that Pushpa had been entirely missing for the past 15 days. Fearing the worst, Mahavir Lodhi approached the authorities on July 20 and filed a formal complaint at the Radha Nagar police station. In his written statement, the distraught father explicitly expressed his apprehension that Ganga Sagar had murdered his daughter and concealed her body to avoid getting caught.
Confession Reveals A Gruesome Plot
Acting swiftly on the father's complaint, the Radha Nagar police registered a murder case and initiated a thorough probe into the matter. Superintendent of Police Abhimanyu Manglik shared detailed insights into the investigation, stating that a police team detained Ganga Sagar based on the available evidence. During intensive interrogation, the accused broke down and confessed to the crime. Ganga Sagar admitted that he had strangled Pushpa to death on June 28. To escape legal consequences and disguise the cold-blooded murder as a suicide or an unfortunate mishap, he devised a sinister plan and sought the assistance of his two sons and another associate.
Vehicles Recovered, Manhunt For Fourth Suspect
The four men collaborated to execute the cover-up. After killing the 20-year-old, they packed her body into a sack. They then loaded the sack onto a tractor trolley, drove to a nearby railway track, and dumped the body there, hoping the authorities would dismiss it as a routine train accident. Superintendent of Police Manglik confirmed that following the shocking confession, the police have arrested Ganga Sagar and his two sons. Furthermore, the investigating team has successfully recovered the tractor trolley and a motorcycle used during the commission of the crime. While three of the perpetrators are now behind bars, the fourth accomplice involved in dumping the body remains on the run. The police department has constituted specialized teams to track down the absconding suspect, and efforts are underway to ensure his speedy arrest.
