Former Uttar Pradesh state minister and sitting BJP lawmaker from Shikarpur, Anil Sharma, passed away at the age of 63 in a Delhi hospital while undergoing treatment for cancer.

Anil Sharma, a sitting Bharatiya Janata Party lawmaker representing the Shikarpur assembly constituency in Bulandshahr and a former minister in Uttar Pradesh, passed away on Wednesday. The 63-year-old politician was undergoing treatment for cancer at a hospital in Delhi, where he breathed his last. He was a resident of Surajwali village located within the Shikarpur region.

Political Journey and Four Legislative Terms

Sharma enjoyed a long legislative career and was elected to the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly four times. He secured his entry into the state assembly in 2002 from the Khurja seat as a candidate of the Bahujan Samaj Party. He retained the constituency on a BSP ticket during the 2007 state elections. He later joined the BJP and achieved consecutive election victories from the Shikarpur constituency in 2017 and 2022.
