According to meteorological assessments, a strong spell of rainfall is likely to continue for three to four days. The threat of severe thunderstorms has prompted a yellow alert for at least ten districts, including Prayagraj and Mirzapur. Residents in these areas should prepare for turbulent weather, with winds estimated to blow at speeds ranging between 40 and 60 kilometers per hour.

This renewed wave of monsoon activity is critical for farmers. Across the country, June witnessed a substantial 40 percent deficit in total rainfall, triggering concerns over crop sowing. This subsequent dry phase escalated challenges for agricultural activities. The alert covers a wide geographical area from July 22 to July 27. Heavy downpours are forecast for western and eastern Uttar Pradesh. Specifically, districts such as Jhansi, Lalitpur, Jalaun, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Banda, Chitrakoot, Kaushambi, Prayagraj, Mirzapur, and Sonbhadra are expected to receive substantial rainfall. For eastern Uttar Pradesh, widespread showers are anticipated on July 23 and July 24, followed by an escalation to heavy rainfall on July 26 and July 27. Meanwhile, western parts of the state will experience continuous rainfall from July 25 through July 27. Additionally, the meteorological department has highlighted risks of cloudbursts, sudden landslides, and flash floods in hilly terrains adjoining the region.
