A resident of Kanpur has lodged a serious complaint against his wife, accusing her of secretly adding a harmful chemical substance into the family's daily tea and room freshener over several months. The shocking incident, which unfolded in the Rawatpur area of the city, came to light after the husband installed hidden surveillance cameras inside their home following continuous unexplained health issues suffered by both him and his elderly mother.
Unexplained Illness and Escalating Domestic Suspicion
Himanshu Gupta, who resides in the Ganesh Nagar neighborhood of Rawatpur in Kanpur, explained that marital disputes began occurring within just a few months of his marriage. Along with frequent household arguments, the family began suffering from persistent physical weakness and recurring health complications. Concerned by the deteriorating physical condition of both Himanshu and his mother, attending doctors raised serious doubts that their symptoms could be linked to the regular consumption of contaminated or toxic substances mixed into their food and drinks. Following recent sensational domestic cases across the region, including the blue drum murder incident in Meerut and similar events in Haryana, this new case from Kanpur has once again drawn attention to severe marital disputes.
CCTV Camera Installation and Alleged Syringe Footage
The suspicion deepened when Himanshu's mother reportedly spotted her daughter-in-law mixing an unknown substance into the tea while preparing it in the kitchen. Driven by growing fear and needing concrete proof, the family decided to install hidden CCTV cameras throughout the house. Upon examining the recorded footage, Himanshu claimed that his wife was caught on camera on multiple occasions pouring a dark-colored substance into the family's tea cups. In addition to the beverage tampering, he alleged that the footage also showed her using a medical syringe to inject a suspicious liquid inside the household room freshener container. Himanshu has submitted both the CCTV video clips and medical evaluation reports to the local authorities.
Property Conspiracy Allegations and Ongoing Police Probe
Sharing her grief, Himanshu's mother stated that she had solemnized her only son's marriage with great dreams and expectations, never anticipating that their home would transform into an atmosphere dominated by dread and uncertainty. The family has alleged that a deliberate conspiracy was being orchestrated to harm them permanently in order to seize their property and assets. However, officials noted that these allegations are subject to thorough investigation. The case also features conflicting legal actions, as the wife had earlier filed a formal police case accusing Himanshu and his family of dowry harassment. Addressing the matter, the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Kalyanpur confirmed that a case has now been registered on the basis of the husband's written complaint. The officer stated that law enforcement is conducting a fair and objective inquiry into all claims, carefully evaluating the CCTV evidence, medical documents, and statements from both sides before taking appropriate legal steps.
