Designed to recreate the feel of walking beneath the sea, the modernized structure incorporates advanced 3D visual effects and a wide display of vibrant aquatic species. Zoo officials anticipate that this major modernization drive will significantly increase tourist footfall and enhance the overall appeal of the wildlife park for regional travelers.
Design Inspired by Panchgani’s Famous Star Aquarium
The ambitious redevelopment initiative was launched under the guidance of Zoo Director Kanhaiya Patel. Range Forest Officer Firoz Khan explained that the previous aquarium operated under a traditional model that had lost its novelty and failed to generate high interest among visiting crowds. Recognizing the need for a modern upgrade, management decided to completely transform the space. The new structure takes inspiration from the renowned Star Aquarium located in Panchgani, Maharashtra. Under the new layout, large transparent glass walls surround visitors on all sides, delivering a realistic perception of walking directly through an oceanic environment while observing swimming marine life.
Educational Features and Dynamic Visuals
According to Range Forest Officer Firoz Khan, the revamped aquarium is designed to serve as both an entertainment venue and an informative educational platform. Detailed display boards will present fascinating facts regarding fish behavior, natural habitats, and feeding patterns, allowing visiting students and families to learn about aquatic biology. Additionally, specialized 3D visual and lighting effects will enhance the ambiance, giving viewers an authentic sense of deep-sea exploration throughout their walkthrough.
Kodak Selfie Tank and Interactive Feeding Zone
To maximize visitor engagement, the new complex features unique interactive zones. A major highlight is the dedicated Kodak tank, designed specifically as a selfie point. Visitors can step into a central viewing space enclosed by clear glass panels, allowing photographs to capture the illusion of standing right alongside floating marine life. Furthermore, a specialized fish pond is being constructed where visitors of all ages can feed the fish by hand. Authorities expect this hands-on feeding area to quickly become one of the most sought-after attractions for visiting families.
Exotic International Species and Upcoming Opening Timeline
Alongside structural upgrades, zoo management is increasing the number of display tanks and procuring rare, colorful fish species from various international locations. Range Forest Officer Firoz Khan stated that final setup works are progressing rapidly, with the modernized aquarium expected to open to the public within the next 10 to 15 days. Officials are confident that the upgraded attraction will not only draw local residents from Kanpur but also attract tourists from neighboring districts, positioning Kanpur Zoo as a premier wildlife destination in the region.
