Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party president and Uttar Pradesh government minister Om Prakash Rajbhar has introduced a fresh interpretation of the acronym PDA. Linking the acronym directly to assembly election outcomes, he launched a sharp attack on the Samajwadi Party and claimed that following setbacks in 2017 and 2022, the opposition party is destined to face another defeat in the upcoming 2027 polls. With political parties already shifting into campaign mode across the state, this fresh verbal duel has added momentum to ongoing pre-poll political sparring.
Remarks During Ambedkar Nagar Visit
During his visit to Ambedkar Nagar in his capacity as the district in-charge minister, Om Prakash Rajbhar unveiled his new breakdown of the PDA acronym while criticizing the opposition. According to his formulated breakdown, the letter P stands for the first defeat during the 2017 assembly elections, the letter D represents the second defeat in the 2022 assembly elections, and the letter A signifies the upcoming defeat awaiting the party in the 2027 assembly electoral battle.
A History Of Alternative Definitions
This is not the first instance of Rajbhar offering unconventional expansions for the PDA acronym. He has previously targeted the Samajwadi Party over dynastic politics by defining PDA as Family Development Authority. Pointing out that political rivals alter definitions to suit their convenience, he noted that the letter A has sometimes been used to denote backward sections or tribals, jokingly remarking that definitions might eventually stretch even further. His past improvisations of the acronym have also included phrases like party for Dimple and Akhilesh, alongside other provocative interpretations.
Past Alliance And Political Realignment
Om Prakash Rajbhar's party contested the 2022 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections in an alliance with the Samajwadi Party. However, the coalition fell short of securing a majority, with the Samajwadi Party winning 111 seats while Rajbhar's party had to settle for just 6 seats. Following the election results, Rajbhar switched sides, aligned with the NDA, and secured a ministerial berth in the state government. Since making the switch, he has maintained a consistent offensive against his former allies, repeatedly forecasting their electoral downfall.
