A child who went missing from Gorakhpur district's Sahjanwa police station area a day earlier was not found alive. Police investigation instead revealed that the child was murdered by a person renting a room in the same house. The body was recovered from a nearby ruin, and the disclosure has plunged the entire locality into grief and anger.
How CCTV Footage Cracked the Case
The case is from ward number 9 of the Sahjanwa police station area. The child had suddenly gone missing under suspicious circumstances, after which the family filed a complaint and Sahjanwa police registered a missing person case and began a search. During the investigation, the police team started scanning CCTV camera footage from the surrounding area, and one particular clip exposed the entire case. The footage made the activities of the tenant living in the child's house look suspicious, turning the investigation in his direction.
Tenant Breaks Down Under Questioning, Body Found in Ruins
Based on the clue from the CCTV footage, police took the accused tenant into custody and questioned him intensively, after which he broke down and confessed to the crime. Following his confession, police recovered the child's body from a nearby ruin, based on directions given by the accused himself. As soon as the body was found, the family was thrown into mourning and chaos. Police immediately took custody of the body and sent it to hospital for post-mortem.
Who Is Accused Kalpesh
According to police, the arrested accused has been identified as Kalpesh. He originally hails from the Bakhira area of Sant Kabir Nagar district. Kalpesh was living in Sahjanwa, having rented a room in the victim family's house, and worked at a nearby factory.
SSP Reaches the Spot Himself, Probe Underway
As soon as news of the child's murder broke, Gorakhpur's SSP personally reached the crime scene along with a heavy police force and inspected the entire matter closely. Police are currently holding accused Kalpesh in custody and questioning him to find out exactly why he killed the child so brutally. Following the incident, a heavy police force has been deployed in the area, and further legal action is underway.
