A tragic accident struck Mumbai, Maharashtra, during the arrival celebrations of the 'Bhuleshwarcha Raja' Ganesha idol, claiming the lives of two individuals and leaving five others, including two children, injured. Civic officials reported that the incident took place on Saturday night in the southern part of the city.
According to authorities, the event unfolded at approximately 10 PM near the kabutarkhana at Jay Ambe Chowk on Balram Merchant Road in Bhuleshwar. The accident occurred amidst the 'Bhuleshwarcha Raja' Ganpati festival as a massive crowd of devotees had gathered in large numbers to participate in the grand arrival procession of the deity's statue.
Immediate Rescue Operations and Hospital Admissions
A civic official stated that the injured individuals were swiftly transported to nearby hospitals following the collapse. However, two people had sustained critical injuries and succumbed to their conditions. In the wake of the incident, the Mumbai Fire Brigade, Mumbai Police, Traffic Police, 108 Ambulance Service, and civic ward staff were immediately dispatched to the location.
According to the BMC, initially, one person was brought dead to GT Hospital, while two other injured individuals were undergoing treatment. Later on, officials confirmed that the tragic incident had resulted in a total of two fatalities and five injuries.
Identification of Victims and Injured Persons
Authorities revealed that the deceased have been identified as Sanket Nevshe (33) and Brijesh Hemant Joshi (30). Meanwhile, the five injured victims were named as Vaibhav Ghenand (38), Pawan Chaurasia (25), 5-year-old Lavanya Ganer, 7-year-old Divya Ganer, and Kunal Kashid (26). Civic officials confirmed that the condition of all the injured persons is currently stable.
