A devastating road accident has been reported from Ghaziabad district in Uttar Pradesh. A speeding truck ran over a couple traveling on a motorcycle near the Chhijarsi cut on NH-9 under the Indirapuram police station area. The collision was so severe that the truck dragged the couple along with their motorcycle for a considerable distance, resulting in their immediate deaths at the scene. Following the crash, the driver managed to escape, leaving the vehicle behind.
Police identify the victims
Promptly responding to the incident, the local police established the identity of the deceased couple. According to official details, the victims originally hailed from Baghpat. The deceased woman has been identified as Neelam (32), while her husband was named Ashish (36). On Sunday morning at around 11:00 AM, the couple was heading from Delhi toward Meerut on their new motorcycle when the fatal crash occurred.
CCTV footage under review by authorities
As soon as the accident took place, a large crowd of bystanders gathered at the location. The onlookers immediately alerted the law enforcement agencies. A police team from Indirapuram arrived at the spot upon receiving the alert. The authorities took both bodies into custody and sent them for post-mortem examinations, alongside seizing the involved truck. Investigators are now using the truck registration number to track down the owner and the absconding driver. Furthermore, closed-circuit television footage from surrounding areas is being thoroughly examined to apprehend the culprit swiftly.
Couple lived on rent in a upscale society
Further inquiries revealed that the deceased couple resided on rent within an upscale housing society located in the Indirapuram area of Ghaziabad. Police officials stated that the accused driver will be arrested shortly and strict legal action will be initiated against him.
