A heart-wrenching tragedy has unfolded in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, where a young engineer lost his life after falling into an open drain. The deceased has been identified as 27-year-old Aryan, who originally hailed from Farrukhabad. Aryan was living in Chora village in Noida, balancing his professional life with his ongoing studies. The incident occurred on a Thursday morning between 8 AM and 9 AM while he was walking to his workplace. The industrial area of Sector-58 was heavily waterlogged due to intense rainfall, and as he walked along the side of the road, Aryan accidentally fell into an open drain.
Body Recovered Several Hours After the Accident
Hours after the incident took place, local residents spotted Aryan inside the drain, after which he was recovered and the police were notified. Upon reaching the scene, the authorities took possession of the body and sent it for a post-mortem examination. Near the spot where Aryan fell, there is an electric pole. Because of this, it is suspected that he may have been electrocuted upon falling into the drain, which could have led to his death. However, the exact cause of death will only be confirmed once the official post-mortem report is released by the medical examiners.
How the Accident Occurred
The uncle of the deceased has filed a case at the Sector-58 police station against the Electricity Department and the Noida Development Authority for their negligence in this matter. According to the information available, heavy rainfall had led to significant waterlogging on the roads. Aryan was walking over the slabs placed on the drain when one of them was not properly secured or positioned, causing him to fall suddenly and start drowning. The drain is only about two and a half to three feet deep. The presence of the electric pole near the drain is of major concern. It is believed that he may have been rendered unconscious due to an electric current in the water, which subsequently led to his drowning.
Working as a Quality Supervisor
Aryan was employed as a Quality Supervisor at an inverter manufacturing company located at A-27 in Sector-58. He had been working there for the past two and a half years. After completing his polytechnic education, he had pursued his B.Tech degree, and the results of his B.Tech had only recently been declared. The Station House Officer (SHO) of Sector-58, Amit Kumar, provided details regarding the incident, confirming that Aryan was on his way to work during the heavy downpour on Thursday morning, which had resulted in excessive water accumulation on the roads. He was the sole support for his mother, and his untimely passing has left his family in a state of profound grief.
