A disturbing video from Prayagraj district in Uttar Pradesh has gone viral, showing a group of women brutally assaulting a lone woman in broad daylight on a public road. The clip has triggered outrage in the area, and the matter has now reached the local police station.
Where and how the clash unfolded
The incident took place in Kirawa village, which falls under the Mauaima police station area. Two groups of women clashed so violently that punches and kicks were exchanged in the middle of the road. The 44-second video shows several women ganging up to beat a lone woman mercilessly, while hurling abuses at her and questioning her character, remarks that are clearly audible in the recording. Initial information suggests the clash is rooted in an old land dispute along with a harassment complaint. Following the incident, both sides submitted separate written complaints against each other at the Mauaima police station, demanding action.
Woman living alone makes serious allegations
Afsana Bano, a 35 year old resident of Kirawa village, has levelled serious allegations against three men from her own village, Zahid Ali, Mohammad Adil and Zeeshan Ali, in her written complaint to the police. Afsana said her husband lives abroad for work, which leaves her living alone in the village with her two minor daughters. According to her, these three men have repeatedly tried to harass her and make obscene advances toward her.
Accused allegedly scaled the wall and entered her home twice at night
In her written complaint, Afsana stated that on the night of 20 June, at around 10 pm, Zahid, Adil and Zeeshan scaled the wall of her house and entered it. When the three men tried to misbehave with her, she raised an alarm, following which the accused fled after threatening to kill her. Afsana alleged that this did not deter the accused, and on 1 July, Adil and Zeeshan once again scaled the wall and entered her house. They allegedly tried to repeat the same act, but fled again after she raised an alarm, threatening her once more before running away. Afsana has demanded that a case be registered against all three accused and that strict action be taken against them.
Accused's family allegedly turned violent after the complaint
According to locals and sources, women from the accused men's families grew furious after learning that Afsana had filed her complaint at the police station. It is being said that in this anger, the women from the accused's families surrounded Afsana and assaulted her in public, and this assault is what has now been captured in the viral video. That same video has become the most telling piece of evidence in the case, since it clearly captures the women hurling abuses at the victim and questioning her character while beating her. The Mauaima police are now investigating the matter based on the written complaints filed by both sides, and further action will depend on the outcome of that investigation.
