A major infrastructure push unfolded in Gonda on Monday as 69 development initiatives worth over Rs 520 crore were formally inaugurated. While addressing the public gathering, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched a scathing political assessment of previous administrations, singling out the governance record of the Samajwadi Party. He asserted that whenever that party held power in Lucknow, administrative turmoil and civic disorder followed in its wake.
Bridging the Regional Development Divide
The Chief Minister emphasized that public resources and infrastructure are no longer allocated on the basis of political favoritism. He noted that during earlier tenures, state focus remained overwhelmingly tilted toward a handful of politically favored addresses. According to him, areas like Saifai, the ancestral village of Samajwadi Party founder and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, used to receive disproportionate preference over the rest of the state.
Outlining the scale of ongoing administrative outreach, he stated that governance is now evenly spread across all 75 districts, 350 tehsils, 825 development blocks, and 762 urban local bodies in the state. Districts such as Gonda, Bahraich, and Balrampur now receive continuous power transmission on equal footing with the previously favored locations of Saifai and Rampur, marking an end to selective electricity rationing.
References to Historical Scams and Public Order
Touching upon systemic corruption under previous regimes, the Chief Minister recalled that Gonda had witnessed the massive food grain scam during the Samajwadi Party government. He contrasted those lapses with current welfare measures, highlighting that vulnerable households are now receiving free food grains alongside streamlined social protection schemes without diversion.
Reflecting on law and order conditions from earlier decades, he cited his previous address in Gorakhpur, where he stated that Uttar Pradesh experienced 1,500 riots across four separate tenures of the Samajwadi Party.
Ideological and Administrative Contrast
Drawing a clear demarcation between the governing party and the opposition, the Chief Minister stated that the Bharatiya Janata Party represents faith, focused on honoring cultural values and driving meaningful progress in the lives of ordinary citizens. In contrast, he criticized both the Samajwadi Party and Congress, describing their past governance models as synonymous with lawlessness and administrative neglect.
