Police in Uttar Pradesh's Saharanpur district have arrested Huda Zariwala, a former spokesperson for the Aam Aadmi Party, YouTuber, and social activist, over her controversial remarks concerning the administrative removal of a mosque located within the Collectorate premises. Authorities took her into custody on Monday evening when she arrived at the Saharanpur Circuit House, subsequently formalizing her arrest following police questioning.
Police Interception at Circuit House
According to official details, Zariwala had traveled to the Circuit House in Saharanpur on Monday evening to register her protest against the administration's decision to demolish the mosque inside the Collectorate compound. Upon receiving information about her arrival, police units promptly reached the site and blocked her entry into the Circuit House premises. Officers detained her on the spot before moving her to the police station for official proceedings.
Legal Complaint Filed at Sadar Bazar Police Station
The arrest followed a formal complaint lodged on Monday morning at the Sadar Bazar police station by Advocate Dushyant Singh. In his submission, the complainant alleged that Zariwala had made objectionable and inflammatory statements questioning the legal and administrative process of removing the mosque structure. Furthermore, the complaint alleged that she used improper and objectionable language directed against Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Viral Social Media Video Triggers Action
The controversy stems from a video clip circulating across social media platforms in which Zariwala is seen challenging the official action at the Collectorate mosque. In the recording, she raised questions about the administrative measures and highlighted resistance from the Muslim community. Complainant Dushyant Singh noted that the spread of the video generated public anger in the area, prompting his demand for strict legal intervention to maintain order.
Professional Background and Experience
Huda Zariwala has been active in public affairs as a social campaigner and online commentator. Apart from her previous organizational role as an AAP spokesperson, she possesses media industry background, having previously worked as a news anchor for a media organization based in London, UK.
