Located roughly 11 kilometres from the district headquarters, the twin villages of Jaulkande and Borgaon are steadily building a reputation among tourists looking for a peaceful hill escape. The moment visitors arrive, they are greeted by lush green slopes, dense pine forests and valleys stretching into the distance. On a clear day, the towering peaks of the Himalayas are visible from here in stunning detail.

Senior mountaineer Harish Joshi explains that the combination of forest and village surroundings here creates an opportunity to observe different bird species in their natural habitat. He notes that other hilly parts of Bageshwar also hold similar scope for linking bird watching and wildlife viewing in natural settings with tourism, and that this same approach could be promoted in Jaulkande and Borgaon as well.

Activities like bird watching could open up fresh employment and self-employment opportunities, not just for visitors but for the area's young residents too. If local youth are trained for this, they could work as guides, informing tourists about local birds, trees and plants, and nearby natural sites. Waking up to birdsong and greenery spread all around could make this place particularly appealing to nature lovers.
