These districts include Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar, and Pithoragarh, where very light to light rainfall or brief spells of thunder and lightning may develop in scattered pockets. Outside these five mountainous regions, all other districts of the state are forecast to remain entirely dry.
Bright Sunshine in Dehradun, Haridwar, and Plain Belts
In stark contrast to the higher reaches, the foothill and plain regions including the state capital Dehradun, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Roorkee, and Udham Singh Nagar (including Kashipur and Rudrapur) will experience sunny and cloudless skies throughout the day. The intensity of direct sunlight could cause a brief sensation of daytime heat and mild humidity during the afternoon hours, though the morning and evening temperatures will remain pleasantly mild. With rain off the cards in these plain sectors, daily commuters, local markets, and inter-city transportation will operate without disruption.

Across the holy pilgrimage corridors, partly cloudy skies may hover over Kedarnath-Rudraprayag, Badrinath-Joshimath in Chamoli, and Gangotri-Yamunotri in Uttarkashi. As the day progresses into late afternoon or evening, localized pockets may see brief, light drizzles accompanied by thunder. Crucially, there are no warnings in place for torrential downpours, flash floods, or landslides along these mountain routes, ensuring that travel and pilgrim movements proceed smoothly and safely.
Weather Update for the Kumaon Region
Key foothill transit hubs in the Kumaon division, such as Haldwani, Ramnagar, and Kathgodam, will enjoy bright, sunny conditions through the day. Meanwhile, higher altitude stretches of Bageshwar and the border district of Pithoragarh might catch light drizzle in a few scattered areas. In Almora, Nainital, and Champawat, dry and pleasant conditions will prevail without any threat of precipitation.

Forecast models indicate that this dry and stable weather regime will largely continue from 21 September through 24 September. During this four-day window, scattered light showers will remain strictly confined to Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar, and Pithoragarh, leaving the remaining districts warm and dry. A minor transition is expected on 25 September, when localized cloud cover is likely to trigger light rain or thunder activity across the Kumaon districts of Almora, Nainital, and Champawat as well.
