Friday turned into a nightmare for the Bahamas-based airline Flamingo Air, as two of its aircraft encountered severe accidents within just a few hours. The ordeal began when one of the company's planes encountered technical complications shortly after takeoff. The pilot managed to return to the airport for an emergency landing. Although the aircraft caught fire immediately upon landing, all passengers and crew members on board were successfully evacuated without any injuries.
The North Andros Disaster
The situation turned fatal just hours later when another flight operated by the airline went down. The plane had departed from Lynden Pindling International Airport in Nassau, bound for San Andros. According to initial findings, the aircraft experienced mechanical issues while over the North Andros region. At approximately 1:00 PM, the plane crashed into a heavily wooded area. It is noteworthy that the crash occurred while local independence celebrations were taking place in the vicinity.
Official Response and Casualty Details
Following the crash, footage circulated on social media showed the wreckage scattered among the trees. Police officials reported that one survivor was initially discovered at the crash site, but unfortunately, the individual succumbed to injuries shortly thereafter, bringing the total death toll to 10. Authorities have stated that the official list of passengers and the identities of those who lost their lives will remain confidential until all families have been properly notified by the administration.
