The All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union has initiated a major march toward Taksing, a distant frontier settlement located in the Upper Subansiri district, aimed at highlighting pressing border security challenges and regional infrastructure needs. Operating under the banner "Taksing Chalo, Bharat Bachao", the rally is scheduled to finish on August 15 with a ceremonial hoisting of the national flag in Taksing to commemorate Independence Day.
Leadership and Event Flag-Off
Delegates participating in the march were officially flagged off from the union headquarters situated at the NEFA Club building in Itanagar. AAPSU president Meje Taku conducted the flag-off ceremony for the team, which is being led on the ground by general secretary Mato Bui, according to an official statement issued by the student organization.
Firm Stance on National Sovereignty and Security
Addressing the gathering during the launch, Taku emphasized that the residents and youth of the region will never permit any compromise on the territorial integrity of India. He stressed that Arunachal Pradesh has always been, currently remains, and will forever stay an integral and inseparable part of the country. Taku affirmed that the people of the state remain fully committed to supporting both the Indian armed forces and the local populations residing in border villages. He further urged authorities to implement robust security measures along the international frontier without delay.
Focus on Infrastructure and Border Communities
Highlighting the difficulties faced by inhabitants of distant border zones, Taku pointed out that their living conditions and security require immediate intervention from both the Central Government and the Arunachal Pradesh state government. He argued that upgrading security apparatus, improving road connectivity, and establishing essential civic infrastructure in border belts must be treated as matters of primary national importance. Taku stated that geographic borders represent a shared national responsibility rather than mere lines drawn on maps, acknowledging the critical role border village residents play in safeguarding sovereign territory.
Ground Assessment and Outreach Program
Throughout their journey to Taksing, members of the AAPSU delegation plan to hold direct discussions with village leaders, youth representatives, and local community groups. These meetings will serve to document the everyday struggles, infrastructural deficits, and specific concerns of frontier inhabitants. Following the completion of the march, the union intends to assemble a comprehensive ground-assessment report. This document will be formally submitted to both the Centre and the state administration, seeking swift implementation of development projects alongside strengthened security protocols. AAPSU has additionally appealed to its regional branches, student associations, community bodies, and the public, especially across Upper Subansiri, to extend active support to the campaign.
