Giving a significant push to regional growth, the North Eastern Council has wrapped up development projects amounting to Rs 82.41 crore across Arunachal Pradesh throughout the months of July and August. An official statement highlighted that nearly Rs 15 crore was also disbursed for ongoing initiatives during the same timeframe. These allocated funds are actively being utilized toward projects centered on connectivity enhancement, educational improvements, agricultural development, and the preservation of indigenous languages.
Infrastructure Expansion Across Multiple Sectors
The implemented works were executed under the Scheme of NEC and the North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme. These interventions span healthcare, educational facilities, road networks, sustainable agriculture practices, rural infrastructure, and tourism initiatives across several districts. The comprehensive rollout aims to uplift multiple regions within the state simultaneously.
Healthcare and Education Milestones
Among the major completed infrastructure milestones is the Rs 14.38-crore upgrade of the 40-bed district hospital situated at Likabali within the Lower Siang district. The newly enhanced medical facility has been equipped with a maternity ward, an operational theatre, emergency and diagnostic capabilities, alongside a fully functional blood bank. Additionally, the construction of boys and girls hostels in Roing located in the Lower Dibang Valley was finished at a cost of Rs 5.17 crore.
Community Works and Sustainable Agriculture
The development of the Tissa View Point in the Tirap district, which received a sanction of Rs 1.80 crore, has also reached completion. Furthermore, community infrastructure works were finalized in the Hunli-Desali block of the Lower Dibang Valley district for Rs 4.74 crore, as well as in the Taliha block of Upper Subansiri for Rs 4.95 crore. To foster sustainable economic alternatives, a bamboo plantation project covering 200 hectares of jhum and fallow land was executed across the Hikam and Muro areas of Tadin village in West Siang district.
Road Connectivity and Horticulture Initiatives
Carried out at an investment of Rs 2.19 crore, the plantation initiative provides a viable alternative livelihood to shifting cultivation. The council also implemented orange and cardamom plantation ventures across Keojoring and Rava villages in the Nacho circle with an expenditure of Rs 1.98 crore. Under the relevant road scheme, two major corridors carrying a combined project cost of Rs 39.29 crore were completed, featuring a 7.2-kilometer double-lane road connecting Pokriana to neighboring villages that directly benefits around 16,185 residents.
