Unfurling the national flag at Indira Gandhi Park in Itanagar during the 80th Independence Day celebrations, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu unveiled a massive infrastructure initiative for the state. The government has committed a Rs 7,834 crore investment plan covering the period from 2026 to 2029. This funding will focus on rebuilding roads, improving rural connectivity, and reinforcing vital public assets damaged by recent natural calamities.
Rebuilding Robust Infrastructure After Severe Disasters
Addressing the gathering, Khandu pointed out that recent waves of flash floods and severe landslides highlighted the pressing necessity to upgrade infrastructure across the frontier state. The Chief Minister paid homage to victims who lost their lives in the disastrous events that hit Arunachal Pradesh as well as neighboring Assam and Nagaland, conveying his heartfelt sympathies to the grieving families.
Emphasizing the state's determination to bounce back stronger, he reaffirmed, "Our resolve is firm and our direction is clear: in the years ahead, every community of Arunachal Pradesh will be supported with safer, stronger, and more resilient infrastructure."
Acknowledging Crisis Response and Community Spirit
The Chief Minister expressed deep appreciation for the collective resilience displayed during the disaster response. He commended district administration officials, security personnel, disaster management outfits, medical workers, local community members, and volunteers who stepped forward to support relief operations during the crisis.
Earlier, extending greetings to citizens, Khandu wrote on X to honor the sacrifices of freedom fighters. He highlighted that social stability and peace remain the fundamental pillars required for driving uninterrupted long-term development in the border region.
Central Backing and Digital Literacy Awareness
Acknowledging the state's rich regional and cultural diversity, Khandu noted that while different communities hold varied aspirations, Arunachal Pradesh continues to achieve steady progress across key socio-economic sectors. He attributed this transformation to the sustained financial and strategic assistance provided by the Central Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Turning his focus to modern technology, Khandu cautioned the public about the risks of online misinformation. He advised people to critically verify facts before accepting or sharing digital content, stating, "Technology should empower us, not manipulate us." He concluded his address by urging citizens to exercise their democratic freedoms responsibly and actively participate in creating a peaceful and united state.
