Air travel between the neighbouring northeastern states of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh has received a significant boost with the launch of a non-stop air service by IndiGo. The carrier has officially connected Guwahati directly with Donyi Polo Airport situated near Itanagar, fulfilling a prolonged demand from regular commuters for seamless transit between the two regional centers.
Current Operations and Transition to Daily Flights
An official statement released on Sunday confirmed that the newly launched route is operating on a five-day weekly schedule for the initial phase. Flights are active on Sunday, Monday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. This frequency is set to expand rapidly as the airline shifts to its updated winter timetable, which will see the route scale up to full daily operations beginning October 25.
Departure Timings Across Current and Revised Schedules
Under the existing timetable, the outgoing flight departs Guwahati at 11:45 am and touches down in Itanagar at 12:40 pm. For the return leg, the aircraft leaves Itanagar at 1:10 pm and arrives back in Guwahati at 2:05 pm. Once the winter schedule takes effect on October 25, the flight from Guwahati will take off at 12:35 pm and reach Itanagar at 1:25 pm. The return flight from Itanagar will then depart at 3:00 pm, touching down in Guwahati at 3:55 pm.
Broader Network Reach for Travelers
Beyond regional travel between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, the new schedule is structured to offer smooth onward connections to prominent commercial hubs and metropolitan cities across India. Passengers traveling out of Itanagar can connect through Guwahati to destinations including Chennai, Bengaluru, Kochi, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Jaipur, and Lucknow. Travelers have been advised to refer to IndiGo's official portal for the latest schedule updates prior to booking tickets.
