A disturbing case has emerged from Bihar's Muzaffarpur district, where a man beat his own cousin to death over a dispute involving just Rs 2,000. The incident took place in Raksha Rahimpur village under the Sakra police station area. After carrying out the killing, the accused dumped the body in a field and fled the spot. The incident has shaken the entire area, with visible anger among villagers.
The two cousins left home together in the morning
The deceased has been identified as Sanjay Paswan, who supported his family by working as a laborer. Family members told police that Sanjay Paswan and his cousin Sitaram Paswan, alias Raja Babu, had left home together in the morning. The two stayed together through the day, but things took a dark turn by evening. A shepherd spotted the body lying in a field and raised an alarm. Hearing the commotion, family members and villagers rushed to the spot near the Mandai gas plant. Relatives hurriedly tried to take Sanjay to the hospital, but he had already died by then.
The dispute erupted over money after drinking toddy
According to village head Amar Paswan and family members, Sanjay Paswan had around Rs 2,000 with him, money he had earned from his labor. Earlier in the day, the two cousins had sat together and drunk toddy. It was after this that Sitaram Paswan's intentions turned sour, and he began demanding the Rs 2,000 from Sanjay. Sanjay refused to hand over his hard-earned money and protested. That refusal was enough to enrage Sitaram, who beat Sanjay so brutally that he died on the spot.
Police arrested the cousin within hours
As soon as the incident was reported, police from Sakra police station along with DSP Manoj Kumar Singh reached the spot with a heavy force and began investigating. DSP Manoj Kumar Singh said the cousin had carried out the murder over the very same dispute involving Rs 2,000. Acting swiftly, police arrested the main accused, Sitaram Paswan alias Raja Babu. Given the seriousness of the case, a team from the Forensic Science Laboratory, or FSL, was also called to the spot and collected scientific evidence and samples from the scene. After completing the inquest, police sent the body to Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital for a postmortem. Police said further legal action would follow once a written application is received from the family.
