An administrative investigation stemming from a marriage dispute has resulted in the immediate termination of a government employee in the Gopalganj district of Bihar. Chowkidar Gaya Yadav, who was posted under Halka number 2/6 at the Vijayipur police station, has been dismissed from service by District Magistrate Sameer Saurabh. The decision followed an inquiry initiated over allegations of dowry demands during his son's wedding, which ultimately exposed severe irregularities in his job appointment certificates.
Dowry Demand During Wedding Triggers Administrative Probe
The case originates from the Vijayipur police station jurisdiction in Gopalganj, where Gaya Yadav, son of the late Ram Awadh Ahir, was serving as a village watchman. Complainant Abhinav Kumar Yadav submitted a formal petition to the District Magistrate, alleging that Gaya Yadav demanded dowry for his son's marriage and subsequently called off the wedding when the demands were not met. Alongside the marital dispute, the complaint raised serious allegations regarding the legitimacy of Gaya Yadav's appointment, asserting that he had secured his government position using forged credentials.
Inquiry Uncovers Fraudulent Recruitment Certificates
Recognizing the gravity of the allegations, District Magistrate Sameer Saurabh ordered a comprehensive departmental inquiry into the matter. Investigating officials conducted a thorough verification of the recruitment records, certificates, and personal files associated with Gaya Yadav's employment. As part of the due process, the accused chowkidar was issued a show-cause notice requiring him to explain the discrepancies. However, officials determined that his submitted explanation was unsatisfactory and failed to substantiate the validity of his credentials.
Termination Enforced Under Government Servant Rules
The formal investigation report was submitted by the Conducting Officer-cum-Sub-Divisional Officer, Hathua, along with detailed findings from the Presenting Officer. The reports concluded that the charges of presenting fraudulent certificates for government employment were fully substantiated by the available documentary evidence. Exercising powers under the Bihar Government Servants (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, the District Magistrate formally issued the order terminating Gaya Yadav from public service with immediate effect.
Prior Police Proceedings and Administrative Warning
According to local administrative officials, Gaya Yadav had previously been subjected to departmental action initiated by the Superintendent of Police, Gopalganj. The final dismissal order incorporated the findings of the earlier police inquiry, the Hathua SDO report, and recommendations from competent authorities. District Magistrate Sameer Saurabh reiterated a zero-tolerance stance against recruitment fraud, warning that any individual using fake documents to obtain public employment will face severe disciplinary and legal consequences.
