A cultivator in the Mirzapur village under the jurisdiction of Ramgaon police station in Bahraich district has suffered back-to-back setbacks due to unseasonal weather followed by theft. The farmer, Triloki, had already incurred massive agricultural devastation after severe storms and heavy downpours submerged his land. The adverse weather decimated his standing crops across 15 bighas of paddy and 25 bighas of banana plantations, leaving them submerged and decaying in stagnant water. Before he could recover from the financial shock of this disaster, criminals targeted his agricultural setup under the cover of darkness.
Late Night Break-In Targets Irrigation Hardware
According to Triloki, the unseasonal tempest had completely drowned his fields, ruining months of labor. During the intervening night of the 1st and 2nd, unidentified individuals entered the agricultural plot where his modern solar pumping unit was installed. The culprits initially attempted to sever the fittings of the first plate using cutting shears. When that effort failed, they ripped out another solar plate valued at ₹35,000 and fled the scene with the hardware intact.
Government Subsidized Setup Crippled, Halting Water Supply
The targeted machinery is a ₹5 lakh solar setup manufactured by Oswal, provided under an official government subsidy scheme. To acquire the infrastructure, Triloki had personally contributed a share of ₹1,80,000. Under normal operations, the solar pump fulfilled water requirements across 10 to 15 bighas during the summer months and irrigated roughly 5 bighas during winter. With the core panel stolen, power generation has collapsed, completely halting irrigation for his current bell pepper crops and threatening preparatory watering for the upcoming wheat season.
Police Complaint Lodged Amid Questions Over Rural Security
Following the crime, a formal first information report was lodged at the Ramgaon police station. Investigating personnel subsequently inspected the spot to gather forensic leads, though no breakthroughs have been reported regarding the identity or whereabouts of the culprits. The incident has raised critical questions regarding law enforcement vigilance and Dial 112 patrolling routines across rural belts. The beleaguered farmer has appealed to administrative authorities for natural disaster compensation and the immediate recovery of his stolen solar equipment.
