Law enforcement authorities in Bihar have cracked a brazen daytime kidnapping case within hours of its execution in Supaul district. The dramatic incident took place on Monday along State Highway 91 near Belaganj Ward-15, falling under the jurisdiction of the Bhimpur police station. Criminals travelling in a four-wheeler intercepted a young man on a motorcycle and abducted him after creating panic in the area. Following an intensive multi-district search operation, police successfully rescued the victim, identified as Zeeshan Khan, safely from the Fulkaha police station limits in neighbouring Araria district. One suspect involved in the crime has been taken into custody alongside the seizure of the getaway vehicle.
Cinematic Ambush on State Highway Followed by Gunfire
Detailing the operation during a press conference on Monday night, Supaul Superintendent of Police Sharath R. S. confirmed that the abducted youth, Zeeshan Khan, is a resident of Mehdipur village under the Chhatapur police station area and the son of Khurshid Khan. While Khan was travelling on his motorcycle near Belaganj Ward-15, criminals in a four-wheeler deliberately rammed into his two-wheeler. As soon as the victim fell onto the tarmac, the assailants overpowered him and forced him inside their car. When alert local residents and passersby attempted to chase and intercept the vehicle, the criminals opened fire in broad daylight to disperse the crowd and terrorise onlookers before speeding away.
Upon receiving the distress call, the station house officer of Bhimpur police station rushed to the spot with a contingent of armed personnel. Investigators secured the area, conducted a thorough inspection of the scene, and collected initial physical evidence. A video of the terrifying abduction surfaced rapidly on social media platforms, capturing the commotion, the speeding vehicle, and loud gunshots echoing through the crowded stretch. The circulating footage also prompted widespread discussion in regional political corridors regarding public safety and daytime crime.
SIT Mobilisation and Coordinated Inter-District Operation
Recognising the gravity of the public abduction, senior police officials swiftly ordered the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) under the direct supervision of Triveniganj SDPO Dilip Kumar. The SIT was split into three to four operational raiding parties tasked with simultaneously tracking down suspects across multiple suspected hideouts. Relying on forensic clues, vehicular tracking, and witness testimony from the scene, officers zeroed in on the suspects' movement. A coordinated joint raid was subsequently mounted in close collaboration with the Araria district police force and the Bihar Special Task Force (STF), leading to the safe recovery of Zeeshan Khan from the Fulkaha area without harm.
Financial Dispute in Alleged Illicit Deals Triggered Kidnapping
Preliminary interrogation of the detained suspect revealed that the kidnapping was not a random assault or a typical ransom abduction. According to police officials, an ongoing dispute over money transactions related to an alleged illicit business existed between Zeeshan Khan and the accused individuals. This persistent financial friction directly motivated the suspects to orchestrate the abduction plan on the highway. Police officials confirmed that all remaining accomplices who participated in the ambush have been formally identified, and dedicated raiding units are actively tracking them down to ensure their imminent arrest.
