A massive financial fraud involving the theft of crores from unsuspecting investors under the guise of trading investments has surfaced across the country. At the core of this complex racket is Lavish Chaudhary, also known as Nawab Ali, who transitioned from being a resident of Pasonda village in Ghaziabad to establishing a sophisticated, large-scale fraud empire while operating from Dubai. Law enforcement agencies are currently finalizing preparations to issue a look-out notice against the mastermind to restrict his movements and facilitate legal proceedings.
National Panic Triggered by MLM Scam
The fraud centers around a Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) scheme where the company, known as QFX, lured thousands of investors with promises of lucrative returns through fraudulent forex trading schemes. The entity operated without any regulatory approval or government authorization. The scale of the deception is reflected in the numerous FIRs filed across several states, including reports from Saharanpur, Meerut, and Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh, as well as Surat in Gujarat and Chandigarh in Punjab.
Dubai-Based Operations
Lavish Chaudhary orchestrated a highly organized setup where meetings for potential investors were held in various cities across India and even in Dubai. The accused personally covered the costs of these international and domestic gatherings to build credibility and manipulate victims. According to a complaint lodged at the Vapi GIDC Police Station, 28 individuals have reported a combined loss exceeding ₹3.4 crore. However, estimates suggest the total value of the nationwide fraud could reach between ₹25 and ₹30 crore or significantly more.
Arrests and Fugitive Status
Anjali Yadav has been arrested in connection with the ongoing investigation. Video evidence has emerged showing Yadav inside a palatial bungalow in Dubai belonging to Lavish Chaudhary. While Yadav is in custody, the primary accused, Chaudhary, along with his key associates Kalim Sheikh, Arvind Dubey, and Vikas Barik, remain at large and are confirmed to have fled to Dubai. Officials are coordinating with the government to ensure a look-out notice is issued against the absconding individuals.
Display of Wealth and Celebrity Association
To establish false legitimacy, Chaudhary frequently used photographs with high-profile celebrities to influence potential investors. He showcased his lavish lifestyle in Dubai, featuring luxury vehicles and grand residences, often with Anjali Yadav appearing in these promotional materials. Investigations have revealed that the proceeds of the crime were used to acquire multiple assets in Dubai. Furthermore, Chaudhary faces allegations of fraud in several other regions, including Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, and Maharashtra. In Madhya Pradesh alone, he is accused of orchestrating a massive ₹3200 crore scam, leading the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to initiate legal action against him and his associates under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
