The capital is celebrating the triumph of good over evil with grand festivities, centered around the grand Dussehra event hosted by the Shri Ramlila Committee Indraprastha at the उत्सव ग्राउंड in IP Extension, East Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is participating as the chief guest for the celebrations, where the traditional effigy burning of Ravana will take place under his presence. The venue is witnessing immense enthusiasm, with organizers estimating a gathering of nearly 10,000 attendees eager to witness the historical moment. Elaborate arrangements featuring towering effigies and cultural performances have been set up to mark the occasion, alongside comprehensive facilities for public convenience and smooth movement.
Multi-Tiered Security Grid and Heavy Deployment
Given the high-profile nature of the visit and the anticipated large crowds, security forces have placed the entire area under a massive lockdown-like security blanket. The venue and its surroundings are heavily guarded with surveillance networks, metal detectors, and extensive paramilitary deployments. Strategic traffic diversions have been implemented along routes leading to the venue to ensure smooth convoy movement and prevent congestion for commuters. Security plans involve the deployment of around 2,500 personnel from Delhi Police and central armed paramilitary forces, which include specialized commandos from the Delhi Police Special Cell's SWAT unit. Official estimates indicate that the Prime Minister is expected to arrive at the venue around 6:30 PM.
Rooftop Snipers and Advanced Surveillance
Security protocols dictate strict entry regulations, allowing access only to individuals possessing valid passes issued by the organizers, coupled with mandatory frisking at gates. The Special Protection Group has taken complete control of the venue, conducting rigorous anti-sabotage sweeps to detect any potential threats. Strategic vantage points and high-rise buildings surrounding the venue have been secured with tactical teams and sharpshooters on rooftops. Entry checkpoints are equipped with door-frame metal detectors, handheld scanners, and baggage inspection systems. Additionally, bomb disposal squads, snifer dogs, quick reaction teams, ambulances, and mobile patrol units remain on standby. Authorities confirmed that aerial surveillance via drones is actively monitoring the perimeter to maintain foolproof safety.
Comprehensive Traffic Advisory Issued
To mitigate potential congestion caused by heavy pedestrian and vehicular movement, the traffic department has released an advisory urging commuters to plan alternative routes. Temporary traffic regulations and route diversions are being enforced across major thoroughfares in East Delhi during peak hours. Arterial roads likely to experience slowed movement include National Highway-24, Vikas Marg, Road Number 57, Road Number 57A, and Road Number 56. Motorists have been advised to allocate extra travel time, utilize designated parking zones only, and exercise caution near celebration venues due to heavy pedestrian crowds. Police have also warned of strict punitive measures against unauthorized parking along roadsides.
