The Cockroach Janta Party has announced plans to stage another protest march in Delhi on the upcoming September 5. The matter came up for an important hearing in the Supreme Court on Monday. However, the top court firmly refused to impose any ban or restrictions on the proposed march by the Cockroach Janta Party, indicating that judicial intervention is unwarranted at this stage.
Government responsibility for law and order
During the proceedings, the Supreme Court clearly stated that maintaining law and order is entirely the responsibility of the government. The court expressed confidence that the administration will operate strictly within the boundaries of the law. The bench, headed by Chief Justice Surya Kant, noted that there is currently no concrete reason before the court to assume that anything untoward will happen during the demonstration.
Right to protest and court directives
Emphasizing the democratic right of citizens, the court noted that staging peaceful protests is a fundamental right, while the responsibility of keeping order rests with the government and police. The bench directed that the petition be placed before the Solicitor General and listed for hearing on September 10 along with other pending petitions. The court also clarified that if any serious or concerning situation arises, affected parties can immediately approach the Supreme Court within its legal jurisdiction.

The Cockroach Janta Party recently announced the protest march in the national capital following grievances that the central government has failed to fulfill the promises on the basis of which the party called off its 36-day agitation at Jantar Mantar on July 25. According to available details, the proposed march will start from India Gate and proceed toward the Delhi Police headquarters.
Leadership of the affected families
The upcoming march will be spearheaded by the families of students who lost their lives in connection with NEET exam controversies and those who suffered due to police actions. Meanwhile, further announcements from the party indicate the launch of a public outreach campaign named Kya Bolti Public to amplify their grievances.
