The national capital witnessed two major emergency incidents involving dangerous fires and explosions. In the Vivek Vihar area of Delhi, an unexpected LPG cylinder blast caused a severe accident, leaving a husband and wife critically injured. The incident took place inside slum cluster jhuggi number 11, located right behind the Vivek Vihar police station. The sudden explosion sent shockwaves through the neighborhood, creating immediate panic among local residents. Authorities and emergency services rushed to the scene as soon as the alert was raised.
Sudden Explosion inside a Slum Dwelling
According to initial details, a small LPG cylinder exploded suddenly inside the residential jhuggi. The deafening blast created complete chaos in the immediate surroundings. The accident severely affected 35-year-old Anil Das and his 30-year-old wife Khushbu, both of whom sustained major burn injuries. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, local emergency responders utilized PCR assistance to immediately transport the injured couple to Rajiv Gandhi Hospital, where they are currently undergoing medical treatment. Reports indicate that both individuals suffered burns across approximately 60 percent of their bodies.
Fire Department Deploys Units
Upon receiving immediate information regarding the accident, fire department teams rushed to the location without delay. To suppress the flames and bring the volatile situation under control, authorities dispatched 2 water tenders and 1 water bowser unit to the site. Officials are currently investigating the exact underlying causes that triggered the LPG cylinder blast. The incident caused a tense atmosphere and brief panic throughout the locality immediately following the explosion.
Separate Fire Incident at West Delhi Timber Factory
In a separate major incident on the other side of the city, a massive fire broke out early Sunday morning at a wood and plywood factory located near the Rajdhani Metro Station in West Delhi. Following the emergency call, the Delhi Fire Service mobilized a total of 25 fire engines to battle the blaze. Fortunately, officials confirmed that no casualties or injuries have been reported in connection with this massive industrial fire.
Early Morning Emergency Response
Authorities noted that the alarm regarding the fire at the wooden warehouse situated in Assam Timber Market was received at approximately 3:00 am. A senior fire official stated that initially, nine fire tenders were dispatched to the spot, but as the situation escalated, additional firefighting vehicles were brought into service. The blaze was officially categorized as a major fire at around 3:24 am.

Firefighting crews successfully brought the extensive blaze under control by approximately 6:30 am. According to official statements, the fire originated inside a wooden warehouse situated in the basement of a multi-level structure. The building consists of a basement, ground or stilt floor, and two upper floors, spreading across an expansive area of approximately 2,000 square yards. Meanwhile, other municipal incidents in the capital continue to draw strict legal action, such as an ongoing case involving a child assault at a local play school where authorities registered charges under the POCSO Act.
