A late night confrontation in North West Delhi ended with the arrest of two suspected operatives belonging to the Tillu Tajpuria gang following a shootout with law enforcement officers in the Rohini area on Saturday. The incident took place near the UER Highway within the jurisdiction of the Kanjhawala police station in Karala. Authorities identified the arrested individuals as Vishal and Rahul, both of whom sustained gunshot injuries to their legs during the exchange of fire before being apprehended.
Surveillance and Police Siege on UER Highway
The operation was initiated after the Special Staff unit of the Rohini police received targeted intelligence regarding the movement of the gang members. According to police inputs, the two suspects were scheduled to travel along the UER Highway near Karala on Saturday night. Acting swiftly on the tip-off, officers laid a strategic trap to intercept the incoming criminals. When the suspects noticed the police blockade, they opened fire at the officers in an attempt to break through and escape.
Exchange of Fire and Apprehension
The sudden attack prompted the police team to retaliate with controlled firing. Roughly half a dozen rounds of bullets were exchanged between the two sides during the intense encounter. The retaliatory fire from law enforcement struck both suspects in their legs, disabling their attempt to flee. Police personnel immediately moved in to disarm and arrest both Vishal and Rahul at the scene.
Connection to the Harish Mathur Murder Case
Police confirmed that both Vishal and Rahul were key suspects wanted in connection with the recent murder of Harish Mathur in the Karala locality. The two shooters had been evading arrest ever since the homicide occurred, triggering a widespread police hunt. Following their capture and medical attention, investigators have launched an interrogation to uncover further details about their gang operations and weapon procurement.
