Weather Turns Violent Mid-Examination
Candidates sitting for the re-NEET examination in Kota on Sunday had barely settled into their papers when the weather turned without warning. A fierce storm accompanied by torrential rain swept through the city, rapidly worsening conditions at multiple examination centres. Blinding dust, howling winds, and a heavy downpour shattered the concentration of students writing their tests and plunged several halls into disorder.
Broken Glass Flies Into Halls, Candidates Hurt
The most dangerous consequence of the storm was the destruction of window panes at numerous centres. The force of the gale shattered glass across multiple locations, sending shards into the examination rooms. Students and invigilating staff were thrown into a state of panic. A number of candidates sustained minor injuries from the flying glass and had to be administered first aid and wound dressing on the spot by officials present at the centres.
Mahaveer Nagar Centre Flooded, Hall Change Ordered
Conditions were at their worst at an examination centre in the Mahaveer Nagar area. Once the windows gave way there, rainwater began flooding into the hall, making it impossible to continue the test in that space. Administrators on the ground made an immediate decision to shift all candidates to a separate hall within the same centre. The examination was briefly interrupted during the transition but resumed smoothly once students were safely reseated in the new location.
Officials Act Fast to Restore Calm
The moment the disruption was reported, administrative officers and security personnel deployed at the affected centres moved quickly to regain control. Broken glass was cleared away without delay, and injured candidates were brought to safe areas and given prompt medical attention. The administration stated that the unexpected weather did not cause any significant disruption to the overall conduct of the examination and that the test was wrapped up on schedule at the majority of centres in spite of the storm.
