The Dussehra celebrations at the Shalimar Ground in Panchkula, Haryana, reached new heights this year with the burning of what is being described as the world's tallest 221-foot effigy of Ravana. Large crowds from across the tricity region flocked to the venue, eager to catch a glimpse of the towering structure and record the momentous burning on their cameras. The atmosphere at the ground was charged with excitement as spectators waited in anticipation for the main event to unfold.
Remote-Controlled Ignition
A modern twist was added to the traditional festivities as the colossal effigy was set ablaze using a remote control. The burning process was triggered instantly the moment the button was pressed, sending the massive structure up in flames. Prior to the ignition, a dazzling display of vibrant fireworks lit up the night sky, captivating the audience and significantly elevating the excitement of the Dussehra festival.
Joint Organizational Efforts
The grand festival was jointly organized by the Shri Mata Mansa Devi Dussehra Committee and the Shri Adarsh Ramlila Dramatic Club. Both committees worked extensively to manage the massive turnout and ensure that the event ran smoothly. The sheer scale of the 221-foot structure served as the primary centerpiece, drawing enthusiastic onlookers from far and wide to partake in the historic celebration.
Cultural Performances Add to the Festivity
Beyond the grand burning ceremony, the event offered vibrant cultural entertainment to keep the audience engaged. Renowned Haryanvi singer Tejpal took to the stage and captivated the crowd with his power-packed musical performances, drawing enthusiastic applause and cheers from the assembled public. The combination of the giant effigy, stunning fireworks, and live music made the Panchkula Dussehra celebration a resounding success.
